Recommended GYN Exam Schedule by Age and Preventative Health

Age 13-18

   
Tetanus-diptheria-pertussis booster Once between ages 11 and 16, then every 7 – 10 years
Hepatitis B Vaccine One series for those not immunized
Hepatitis A Vaccine Optional vaccine for anyone who travels internationally
Human papillomavirus Vaccine One series for those not previously immunized
Meningococcal conjugate vaccine Before high school for those not previously immunized

Age 19 – 39

Pap test Yearly by age 21 with HPV testing after the age of 30
Chlamydia testing If aged 25 years or younger and sexually active
Tetanus-diphtheria- pertussis booster Every 10 years
Cholesterol testing One screening test in your 20s and one screening test in your 30s (if abnormal may need more testing)
Influenza (flu) vaccine Yearly
Hepatitis A Vaccine Optional vaccine for anyone who travels internationally
Human papillomavirus vaccine One series for those aged 26 or less and not previously immunized

Ages 40 – 64 – All of the above (in each category) plus:

Pap Test Yearly
Mammography Yearly starting at age 40
Cholesterol testing Every 5 years starting at age 45
Fecal occult blood testing Yearly starting at age 50
Colonoscopy Every 10 years starting at age 50
Fasting glucose testing Every 3 years after age 45
Thyroid stimulating hormone Every 5 years beginning at age 50
Tetanus-diphtheria-pertussis booster Every 10 years
Hepatitis A Vaccine Optional vaccine for anyone who travels internationally
Influenza (flu) vaccine Yearly

Ages 65 or over – All of the above (in each category) plus:

Bone Density Screening (DEXA) Every 2 years
Influenza (flu) vaccine Yearly
Pneumonia vaccine Once
